Commercial read
What is constrained: Both directions across Twente and the Zwolle corridor: every sampled service area is at TenneT's most constrained transmission level for off-take and feed-in. TenneT states Zwolle-West and the Enschede subnetwork have no room until 2035. The largest feed-in queue sits at Almelo (about 39 MW), the largest both-direction pressure at Zwolle.
Still worth screening: The near-term exception is Hengelo: TenneT's new transformers at Hengelo Oele create room in the coming years, ahead of the 2034 to 2038 wall of structural projects. As in Limburg, the regional stations often have capacity above current contracts, so the binding date is the transmission timeline.
What changed: Enexis announced (31 October 2025) seven new stations in the Zwolle-Deventer-Twente corridor as part of its largest-ever reinforcement. TenneT's Hengelo Oele fourth transformer is targeted for 2027, while most Twente reinforcement lands 2034 to 2038. Contracts above 1 MW now require offering flexible capacity at peak.
What to watch: The Hengelo Oele transformer commissioning (2027), the Almelo 380/110 kV station (around 2035), the Deelnet Enschede stations, and the Zwolle Frankhuis-Hessenweg cable route study starting 2026.

Stations and areas
- Province overview, both directions: Every Overijssel service area Wattlas sampled on 5 July 2026 shows TenneT's transmission layer at its most constrained level (code 3) for both off-take and feed-in. TenneT states the areas west of Zwolle (Zwolle-West) and east of Hengelo (the Enschede subnetwork) have no room until 2035; the new transformers at Hengelo Oele are the only near-term relief. Expected: Hengelo Oele new transformers near-term; most transmission reinforcement 2034 to 2038; Almelo 380/110 kV station targeted 2035. source
- Zwolle (Weteringkade) service area, both directions: The capacity map (sampled 5 July 2026) lists 88.2 MW existing against 79 MW required off-take capacity with a 28.4 MW off-take queue, and 85 MW existing against 65.8 MW required feed-in capacity with a 29.3 MW feed-in queue, both directions regional solve indicated 2031, TenneT code 3. Enexis plans extra capacity on Zwolle Weteringkade between 2030 and 2031. Expected: Enexis extra capacity Zwolle Weteringkade 2030 to 2031; TenneT Zwolle Frankhuis-Hessenweg 110 kV cable 2035 to 2038. source
- Almelo (Mosterdpot) service area, feed-in: The capacity map (sampled 5 July 2026) lists 78.5 MW existing against 41.7 MW required feed-in capacity with a 39.4 MW feed-in queue, the largest feed-in queue in the sampled Overijssel areas, TenneT code 3. This service area sits on a Coteq and Enexis boundary. Enexis plans extra capacity on Almelo Mosterdpot in 2029. Expected: Enexis extra capacity Almelo Mosterdpot 2029; TenneT new 380/110 kV station Almelo targeted around 2035. source
- Enschede (van Heekstraat) service area, both directions: The capacity map (sampled 5 July 2026) lists 69.1 MW existing against 53.8 MW required off-take with a 9.5 MW off-take queue, TenneT code 3 both directions. TenneT states the Enschede subnetwork has no room until 2035; relief comes from the Deelnet Enschede reinforcement (two new stations in the Enschede subnetwork). Expected: TenneT Deelnet Enschede (two new stations), indicative 2034 to 2038. source
